NEXCOM's fanless controller NISE 3660 was selected by a large, world-class petrochemical manufacturer for its distributed control system (DCS) to help the company realize significant cost reductions along with a boost to both operational and maintenance efficiency.

 

Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC), one of NEXCOM's customers, examined its network of 300+ factories and plants dispersed around the globe and perceived the inefficiencies in its proprietary DCS system. For smooth operations, long-term maintenance, and minimum disruptions of obsolescence, a standardized Intel® architecture-based DCS solution built with NEXCOM's fanless controller NISE 3660 was selected.

FPC's standardized DCS solution is composed of several subsystems, all of which can use the unified hardware platform that was developed in collaboration with NEXCOM. The unified hardware platform comprises Intel® processor-based components, including NEXCOM's fanless controller NISE 3660, which plays two roles: redundancy controller and man-machine interface (MMI).
